A shutter paradise in Germany

Large feature windows are a feast for the eye. They ensure plenty of natural light and create a special sense of openness in your home. However, feature windows of this kind also come with a number of challenges: defending against the sun’s bright rays and maintaining privacy. One family of seven living by the Tegernsee lake in Bavaria (Germany) faced precisely these challenges, in their new home, but they found the ideal solution: shutters by JASNO. We recently visited their home for a photo shoot and are delighted to share the fabulous pictures, and the story behind this family’s impressive home interior.

A harmonious interior

As soon as you enter the door, it is apparent that every aspect of this home has been carefully considered and matches harmoniously. The modern interior is hallmarked by pastel tones, with the occasional burst of colour or art feature, such as the hanging lights in the stairwell with their timeless design and the giant paintings. “It was above all designed to be a comfortable family home, and an open house for our friends. A place where you can simply feel good,” explained the home owners.

A clean look with shutters

The owners recognised the importance of matching the window decoration with the rest of the clean lines that make up the interior. They also wanted a functional window covering that enabled them to simply adjust the level of incoming light. As the female head of the household explained, “My eye had often been caught by the products from JASNO and I had always been struck by their beauty. I adore the straight lines of shutters and the fact that the panels can be fully opened or closed and set at any position in between. From the outside, too, the shutters make the house look stunning.”

White shutters for a timeless interior

The owners opted for Primewood shutters by JASNO in the colour 9010 Pure White with 89 mm louvers and silent view operation for an extra clean finish, in every room. Right from the start they knew their preferred choice was a narrow louver size. “The overall finish has to be as straight as possible, without too many cross pieces or dividers.” Even the large angled window in the bathroom has been fitted with custom-made shutters, lending the space an even more idyllic character.

The way in which shutters combine with curtains is perfectly reflected in one of the bedrooms. “I would now even go as far as to fit black shutters in some of the rooms. But for the time being, we have no plans to change the interior,” concluded the lady of the house.
